MASTERS RECREATIONAL PROGRAM

The Hanlan Masters Recreational Program is designed for those who wish to row for fitness and fun, with lots of options to participate in the sport in the way that you want, at the times that make sense for your schedule. Whether you want to improve your technique and conditioning in a crew, under the guidance of a coach, or simply want to enjoy the lake’s natural beauty on your own or with your friends, you will find a home in our Masters Recreational program.

COACH: This program is coached by our Head Coach of Masters Recreational Rowing Rhianne Whittaker (bio) with support from our assistant coaching staff.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of Learn-to-Row 301, prior participation in the Masters Recreational program or permission of a Hanlan coach; ability to swim (life jackets are available and encouraged); moderate physical fitness; ability to carry 40 pounds (accommodations are available).

AGE: 19+

PRACTICE TYPES:

Coached practices: Hanlan’s coaching staff meets rowers at the boathouse on a specified day and time, boating the crews, choosing a workout, determining a water route and coaching the rowers on the water. Rowers sign up in iCrew to guarantee their seat in a boat.

Independent rowing: Rowers use iCrew to sign out a Club boat or their own private boat, and row on days, times and water routes of their choice. No coaching or safety boats are provided. Rowers signing out a Club boat must row on the water with at least one other “buddy” boat.
