MASTERS COMPETITIVE MEMBERSHIP
The Masters Competitive program is designed for experienced adult rowers who want to train seriously with first-rate coaches four mornings per week in preparation for regattas or to achieve individual goals. A full training plan, including on- and off-water workouts for non-coached days, will be provided, as will regatta coaching support and boat transportation to many of the major summer and fall races in Ontario. Hanlan membership is required.
COACH: Head Adult Coach Kirsten Ryan, with support from Coaches Tony Tremain and Eric Szonyi (coaching bios)
PRIOR EXPERIENCE: At least one full season of rowing experience; ability to swim; moderate physical fitness*
AGE: 21+
PRACTICE SCHEDULE:
Program starts mid-April (Cold-water rules enforced.)
Coached sessions will take place Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 6-7:30 a.m., and on Saturday mornings from 6:30 to 8 a.m. (Rowers must be accompanied by a coach in a safety boat.)
Additional morning sessions may be offered if members volunteer to drive a safety boat and supervise rowers on the water. (Note: Members will organize themselves via Hanlan’s Slack channels.)
June 1 (or once cold-water rules are lifted) to October 31 (or end of season):
Coached sessions will take place Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 6-7:30 a.m., and on Saturday mornings from 6:30 to 8 a.m.
Additional, self-coached practices will take place on other mornings from 6-7:30 a.m. or at rowers’ personal discretion, assuming rowers launch at times that won’t conflict with Hanlan’s other programs.
2024 DATES: May 1, 2024 to end of October
PRICING: $1,050 + rowing association fees ($60.24) + HST
SAFETY: Safety is our primary concern. If weather or water conditions are unsafe, practice will be conducted on land.

* Rowers must be able lift 40 pounds in order to carry boats to the dock or launch them from a trolley. Please speak to your coach if you require assistance.
