Youth Water Sports Camps

The OHSF Youth Watersports Camp is offered by Hanlan Boat Club in partnership with the Outer Harbour Sailing Federation (OHSF).  The Camp is an expansion of the Learn-to-Row camps offered by Hanlan to youth from our neighbouring community over the last four seasons.  Hanlan invites Toronto youth to join its rowing program as well as to participate in sailing and windsurfing if a full-day program is desired.

$125 +HST per Week (Half-Days), $250 +HST per Week (Full-Days)

The focus of the Camp is on the fundamentals and fun of the OHSF’s water sports – rowing, windsurfing and sailing. Quality instruction in an encouraging and supportive environment will be provided in all three sports for youths aged seven to eighteen years.

While the camp is organized on a “fee for services” basis, the program will continue to maintain opportunities for youth who might not otherwise be able to access these three sports.  The OHSF is working with Pathways for Education, the Metro Toronto Police, and others to provide a week of rowing and/or sailing in one of their joint leadership programs.

Highlights of the program include:

  • rowing for youth 13 to 18 years of age

  • rowing is a half-day ONLY camp and can be combined with windsurfing OR sailing in the afternoon

  • this year’s dates are tba; rowing runs 9am - 1pm

  • childcare provisions before and after the programs to facilitate dropoff and pickup

  • cost of $125.00 per week for a half-day rowing program; cost of $250.00 per week for a full-day program

Hanlan members who would like to help with this program are heartily invited to offer their time.  Over the past three years, “guest coxes” have really advanced the learning process for the athletes.  Experience is not required to contribute to a Learn-to-Row program – just some enthusiasm in sharing your existing knowledge of rowing.  Please let Deb Cumming know if you can help out for a morning or two, or three.
