Hanlan's Kate Sauks and Jaclyn Halko almost won gold on Saturday October 4 at the Head of the Trent regatta in Peterborough when they turned in a very fast time of 18:25.96 in the Women's Club Double. It was the best possible return to competition for Kate Sauks who has been out of competition since the spring due to injury . For a while their names were on top of the leader board by a wide margin. And then the crew was disqualified for passing in the canal, putting them out of the race altogether. The racing experience will put them in good stead when they row the double again at the Head of the Charles in Boston in two weeks' time.
Hanlan had 22 entries in the regatta evenly split between singles and crew boats. Among the singles scullers, Megan Lewicki was 3rd in the Club Single Women. Fourth place finishes were earned by Alex Soutter in the Championship Single Men and by Sep Khanbeigi in the Club Single Men event.
In the crew events, the best Hanlan finish of the day was a 4th place by the Club Coxed Four Women. The next best results were 5th place finishes by Hanlan's Recreational Eight, the Club Coxed Four Men, and the Masters Double Women's crew of Jennifer Dickie and Jeanette Herrle.
