Hanlan crews won two gold medals at the Henley Masters Regatta held on the Martindale Pond course in St. Catherines on Sunday, August 4.
John Sherrick and Harry Vanderlugt were repeat winners in the Mens G Double, a race that they also won last year. In addition Harry, despite being a lightweight rower, finished just one second out of first place in the Men's G Single. He narrowly missed being the first Hanlan sculler to win the Ralph Manktelow trophy for the event. This trophy was donated by some Hanlan Masters to honour a former Club Captain for his service to Hanlan and his excellence at Henley. John Sherrick was 4th in the same singles race.
In the Mixed C Double Liz Taylor and Eric Szonyi also won gold. Earlier Liz Taylor was first in her heat of the Women's B Double to earn a spot in the final where she placed 3rd. It should be noted that Liz was rowing down an age group. Angela Desand was 5th in her heat in the same race. Eric Szonyi, in the Mens C Single, was 3rd in his heat to advance to the final, finishing 5th overall.
Another strong finisher was Jeanette Herrle who was 2nd in the Women's C Single. Valerie Dubail was 6th. In Womens E Double, Susan Wright and Deb Cumming were 3rd. In Womens A-B Double, Melanie McNeill and Tracey Clingen were 4th in their heat.
