Hanlan Boat Club hosted a very successful "Try It" Open House on Sunday, June 9. Dozens of visitors were taken out in touring rowing shells - singles, doubles, and quads - in ideal conditions. The water was dead calm, the sun was shining, and the temperature was perfect. In addition, there were 3 sailing dinghies available to try.
Many Hanlan members were on hand to welcome visitors, serve up lunch on the bbq, cox boats, drive safety boats, and generally help out. As a result, there were a number of people signed up for Learn-to-Row and for summer camp sessions.
Hanlan really put its best foot, or is that an "oar", forward? Particular thanks to Deb Cumming who has been working on the event since before the year end, coordinating with the other Outer Harbour clubs and with the Sails and Shells program (a joint venture between Rowing Ontario and Sailing Ontario). Also our Club Captain Kelly Brigley and Lauren Brown, our Learn-to-Row Coach, among many others, were busy throughout the day.
