The six-day Canadian Henley Regatta wrapped up on Sunday August 10. Once again rowing conditions were as ideal as they have been since last Tuesday. Quite a run of good weather.
Today four Hanlan crews were contesting finals. Best results of the day went to the Senior Womens Lightweight Eight who placed 3rd. The crew included Erin Singer, Alanna Komisar, Kelly Brigley, Heather Noble, Oksana Wankiewicz, Emily Donaldson, Beth Hornby, Megan Lewicki and Kate Sauks in the cox seat.
Earlier the Senior Mens Lightweight Quad of Ryan Northwaay, Ian Finlay, Matt Vincent and Sepehr Khanbeigi were fourth. The Under 17 Mens Double with Peter Barrozzino and Patrick Grogan was 6th. Also 6th was the Under 23 Womens Lightweight Four of Emily Donaldson, Oksana Wankiewicz, Heather Noble and Erin Singer.
Over the six days of the regatta Hanlan entered nearly 50 crews. Of those crews, 12 managed to advance from the heats to semifinals and five made it right through to finals. This is no small achievement in a regatta the size of Henley with up to 11 heats on some events. Although no coveted first-place Henley medals were won this year, Hanlan's results show the continuing and positive growth of the junior and senior programs both in depth and prowess. Congratulations to all the athletes. And a big thank you to coaches Michael Sasi and Lauren Brown for their dedication and leadership.
