Hanlan's resident high school rowers - Upper Canada College, Havergal College, and Lawrence Park CI - were in St. Catharines over the weekend (May 31-June 2) for the 67th annual Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association Championships. There, they were competing against 134 other schools and 806 entries. Disappointingly, the regatta was unable to run any finals on the last day due to unsafe weather conditions and wind. Results were culled from fastest times set in heats and semi finals which was a disappointing way to end the season. This wasn't the way athletes would choose to have their final regatta of the high school season unfold.
Nevertheless a number of crews rowed very well through the preliminaries and semi finals. Upper Canada College registered two seconds, three thirds, and two fourths in the final standings. Havergal finished with one third, three fifths and one sixth. Lawrence Park's crew was a novice team.
Congratulations to all the high school athletes who were competing.
