Tuesday August 7 was the first of the six-day 131st Royal Canadian Henley Regatta held on the Martindale Pond course in St Catharines. It is the largest club regatta in North America and offers stiff competition in every event. Two Hanlan crews placed very well in heats and have advanced to the next level of competition. Alex Soutter won his heat in the Senior Men Single event to advance to the semifinal. In the Senior Women Lightweight Double, Kate Sauks and Kaitlin Nays were also first in their heat and have advanced directly to the final.
Among other Hanlan crews entered on the day, there was one 3rd place finish, two 4th places, two 5ths, and one 7th.
