Week of July 9 and 16. Hanlan Boat Club rolled out the welcome mat over the last two weeks to its annual community rowing program.  This year's program was very successful and well received by the participating youth.  Thirty-five participants over the two weeks enjoyed a three hour, daily program that culminated with a picnic and swim at nearby Ward's Island the first week and Cherry Beach the second week.  A few of the participants had participated in previous years but most of the teens were new to the sport of rowing.  The participants were very appreciative and had a very positive experience; some have expressed an interest in continuing to row.  Hanlan's program is offered under the auspices of the Outer Harbour Sailing Federation (the clubs along our shoreline) some of which also run week-long community programs in sailing and windsurfing.

Hanlan is very grateful to Deb Cumming who has led this program since its inception with enthusiasm and warmth. Vic Gustavison and Nick Matthews were also on hand daily to help with instruction.  Also a big thank you to Elissa Gallander, Barb Prevedello, Sara Erskine, Charlotte Anderson amd Susanne VanderLugt who have been on board to help with coxing and coaching.
