Non-Competitive Program
Do you like to row without racing, for the fun of rowing and general fitness? Is your goal to row at your own pace and improve your skill? Then the Hanlan Recreational Program is for you! Read on!!!
The 2010 Recreational Rowing Season begins on Tuesday, June 1st and runs Tuesday - Thursday at 6:15pm, Saturday - Sunday 9:00am throughout the summer. Other times are available subject to equipment scheduling criteria.
What is a non-competitive or recreational rower?
You are a non-competitive rower if you are not training for a competition. Recreational rowing is primarily scull rowing (each rower has two oars and the boats have either 1, 2, 4).
When can I row?
During the rowing season, coaching is provided Tuesday through Thursday at 6:15 PM. Availability of designated equipment at other times will be discussed by the coaches during the aforementioned sessions.
No. In fact, there will be no set crews in the evenings and this allows people with busy schedules to come and row as often as they wish on the designated evenings. We also want you to meet with your fellow club members, and to have the experience of rowing with other people.
What happens if I want more rowing?
The training singles are available for your use. If you wish to compete, please talk with Robert Watering and he can set you up either in our development group, or you can be put straight into the open program depending on ability.
Annual membership fee
The annual membership fee is $475.00 + G.S.T. ($225 if you have participated in our Learn To Row programme in the same rowing season).
What do I do next?
Please contact JC Marly at
. All rowers are asked to complete the Club Membership Application and Waiver and the Recreational Programme Information Sheet and to bring these completed forms along with your fees to your first row.
