JUNIOR Competitive Program

The summer junior programme will officially begin with a meeting at the Hanlan Boathouse at 9:00a.m. on Sunday, June 6th. Junior rowers are those who will be 18 or under on December 31st, 2010.

Program Overview

The Junior Competitive programme is open to all junior rowers with rowing experience. Non-experienced athletes are directed to enter the sport through either our Learn To Row programme or the Junior Development programme (see below).

Goals of the Program

The primary goals of the junior programme are to provide a safe, fun atmosphere for junior athletes. There will be an emphasis on developing versatility in the athletes (i.e. ability to scull and sweep on both sides). The racing focus of the Junior Competitive Program is to provide the best results at the 2010 Ontario Rowing Championships. Interested/available athletes may also be chosen to represent Hanlan BC at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. There will also be a Junior Fall season with head races and a possibility of an entry to the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston (depending on the success of the program through the season).

Boat Categories

We will consider boating crews in all categories depending on where we see our best chances.
